At a Loss

I'm thinkin' thoughts that shall never be heard
For a moment in time I'm at a loss for words.
I try as I may 'n' I try as I might
Tis next to impossible to get the words right.

I dig deep down into my poetic soul
Tryin' to make random thoughts into a whole.
I reach unto the realm o' my writer's spirit
Knowin' I must write it so that you may hear it.

I need to tell you o' my grief o'er the loss
O' my beloved friend, my landlady, my boss.
I want all to know how much I shall miss her
This lady who once told me that to her I'm like a sister.

In so many ways we're alike, Cynda 'n' I
And only she would understand the tears that I cry.
She believed in me when nobody else would
The depths o' my being she fully understood.

She'd stop me cold when I'd get too big for my britches
And chuckle o'er the fact that we called each other bitches.
I want to share with you our emotional kinship
Yet I'm at a loss to explain the fullness o' the friendship.

Random thoughts keep ramblin' through my mind
The words to describe them are lost to me I find.
Alas, I hope that I've not failed to make you understand
How I shall miss my queen bitch, a lady so grand.

To Cynda the words are clear that I must say
As our Lord has called her to His home far away.
One word describes her in whole, tis spirituelle
Now God travels with her; praise Emmanuel.

Upon The Wings O' Friendship

Upon a glistenin' tear
You may slip 'n' you may slide
But on the wings o' friendship
Your pain o' loss shall subside.

When passions surge as the sea
Risin' upon thy spirit
Upliftin' wings o' friendship
Flap loudly so you hear it.

With each teardrop that moistens
The deep center o' thy soul
Upon the wings o' friendship
You shall surely gain control.

When emotions rage within
The depths o' thy bleedin' heart
Fly on the wings o' friendship
And from this day do depart.

Upon a glistenin' tear
You may slip 'n' you may slide
Now on the wings o' friendship
Let your pain o' loss subside.
