The Star In My Sky

As I gazed upon the midnight blue
I selected a star and it was you.
We're a couple, you and I.
I'm your gal and you're my guy.

In the cloak of darkened night
Your arms surround me, holding tight.
In the embrace throughout the years
You've all but worn away my fears.

Love, honor, cherish, and yes, even obey.
I would vow those words again today.
I'd kneel at the altar, give thanks to above
For granting me a marriage of star filled love.

Each morning the sun rises anew
Another day to spend sharing with you.
For we are a couple, you and I
I am your gal and you are my guy.

Now I gaze into the black of night
The love I knew is nowhere in sight.
We once were a couple, you and I
I was your gal and you were my guy.

I long for the gentleness of your touch
The voice that said, "I love you so much."
Feelings I have held in my heart so dear
Now fall like raindrops on my cheek in a tear.

I swallow the words of love once spoken
Suspended in time in a photo, a token.
I touch the pillow lying empty on the bed
And I steel myself for the journey ahead.

Today the morning sun arose in a cloud
And a voice inside is screaming aloud.
We once were a couple, you and I
I was your gal and you were my guy.
