River O' Tears

I arise this mornin' to a cold, wet, wintry day
Darkness surrounds to hold the warmth o' the sun at bay.
Out o' my sleep, thoughts o' you that I fore'er deem dear,
Allow me to envision that you'll always be near.

As light on the lawn switches from the moon to the sun
My journey to the past has endearingly begun.
Thoughts turn to a dear friend who is also overwrought
In agony o'er loss o' the loved one this day brought.

On this day ev'ry year, uppermost in my mind's eye,
Visions o' the dearly beloved breach cloudy sky.
Now my mother, Anna Mae, and Dianna's son, Kyle,
Are as the sun's warmin' rays burstin' through for awhile.

As I cry me a river o' tears for a mother,
I cry also for the child that life chose to smother.
Throughout the day my mind will unendingly travel
To the myst'ry o' death that I hope to unravel.
