In memory of Maggie Della Wooley, "gone home."

The photo is of my Dad and Mom, on the day I got married to Shirley, over 46 years ago, now. I was so proud to have them stand there and witness their youngest living son say his vows to his young bride. It was the first marriage that they had attended for one of their sons. And it was the first semi-formal one. (No tuxedo for us, as we couldn't afford one. My mom was 40 years old when I was born, and with a twin brother, she never had a lot of time to show much affection to us. There was one more brother still in diapers, so I can understand that. Since there weren't any disposables in those days, it was very hard on her. She was too danged busy making a life for the whole brood to spend any time hugging around on us younguns. It didn't diminish the affection I have for her though. How can you not love the person that taught you a love for God and Jesus, and not be in love with her? There isn't a day goes by, that I don't think of her, and her matronly ways of getting things done. The song that Merle Haggard sang, about Mama's Hungry Eyes, fits her to a tee. She never had the luxuries she wanted, but she always had the things she really needed. One more reason for my Mama's hungry eyes. She lived to be 97 years old, and never quit giving, until she was bedfast, for the last two years of her life. I am sitting here, blubbering, while I recall these wonderful times, that I did know this magnificent man and woman. My Father was just as magnificent. Arthur and Maggie Wooley,
The wind beneath my wings. They are my Heroes.
