Spring 2006

For our newest challenge,
write what Springtime means to you
in any form that you choose to use.

The first line must contain the words:
spring, flowers, hope.
Somewhere in the piece these words should be used:
birds, youth, season, lovers, yesterday.

The earth exhales in gratitude
as the hope of Winter’s end and flowers in bloom
herald the arrival of Spring.

Youth rejoices as the air warms with the scent of daffodils,
and glorious tulips stand like lovers side by side;

Birds trill their joyous song;
hungry mouths stretch toward the sky,
as Robin and Jay and Sparrow renew
the promise of the season with new life.

Those of us who remember yesterday
and yesterday and yesterday more,
stand and stretch and warm our bones
beneath Spring’s rejuvenating rays,

And once again our hearts lift in thankful prayer,
for another Spring is ours.

March 2006

Take these words and be creative.
Turn them into a story,
a poem or even a puzzle...

Leprechaun
Green beer
Blarney stone
Gold
Shamrock
Music

All words must be used in your endeavor!

O Leprechaun!

O Leprechaun, O Leprechaun
Please heed, me darlin’ dear!
Bring forth yer shamrock music
We’ll dance with hearts of cheer!

O Leprechaun, O Leprechaun
With yer heart of gold,
Bring to me a bounty
Of songs of days of old.

O Leprechaun, O Leprechaun
‘Tis not the blarney stone
Which I have kissed, in truth I missed!
And these words are me very own!

O Leprechaun, O Leprechaun
Please heed, me darlin’ dear!
Then we shall dance an Irish jig
And celebrate with green beer!
