Our 1st Challenge

Since each of our work
will be posted on a page,
I think we should start off with something
that tells a little bit about ourselves.
Keep in mind,
it can take any form and does not have to be a poem.

All About Me

My name is Lena.
I was born in Sweden and lived there until 5 years ago
when my sense of adventure took over
and I ended up here in Australia.

I was born with Asperger Syndrome,
a form of autism for you who don't know.
It makes it much easier for me to express myself in writing
than by talking and write I will.

I love creating with my hands and often
in front of the TV I can be found knitting, crocheting, beading
or maybe even drawing a picture of someone's face...
when I'm not at my computer keeping up with friends.

Love Lena

Prompt & Response - August 2007

What piece of advice would you offer to other writers,
especially those afraid to put their feelings into words?

What do you consider to be your greatest asset as a writer?
Your greatest liability?

Who do you admire the most in the world of writing?

How does, or did, this person inspire you?

----------

The advice I would offer other writers would be to just try and put those
feelings into words if not comfortable sharing them so at least into a
private diary then to start with until they get used to it.
I personally find it alot easier to write my feelings down than to
actually express them orally, which has to do with my condition.
The more stressed and emotional I happen to be
the more I actually need to write my feelings and thoughts down
to try and diffuse the chaos that is going on in my brain.

My greatest asset as a writer I guess
is that I am a fairly sensitive and emotional person
so there is plenty to draw from and I have a vivid imagination so
I could write all the time,
but my greatest liability also stands in the way and that is that
I tend to have most of my insipration and need for writing
when I don't have access to my computer or even pen and paper
to get it all out and most of my stories etc ends up never written down.

I don't have anyone in particular I admire in the world of writing
nor do I have a certain person inspiring me
as for me writing mainly is a coping strategy and I can almost promise
I would not be as wordy and express myself as well face to face
...although I can be pretty chatty then too...
once I feel comfortable with a person.
