Our 1st Challenge
Since each of our work
will be posted on a page,
I think we should start off with something
that tells a little bit about ourselves.
Keep in mind,
it can take any form and does not have to be a poem.
Mish
Born in Nebraska
To a guy and a gal
At the end of the fifties
Or so I hear tell.
Raised in the mountains
In a small town most grand
Then down to the desert
With all of that sand.
There in the desert I did stay
And married a man on
A fine summers day.
Over the years five children were born,
The first one was Alex
And artistic is he
Then Joshua the black sheep
Of our large family
Then Levi the large
And Timothy the great
And poor little Mary
Who will never get to date.
For twenty six years in the
Valley of the sun we did live.
But then a call from the south
A Grandmother did give
So pack them all up
And south we did go
To a wonderful town
Nick named the Old Pueblo
Three of the older
Have since fled the nest
While the two younger
Still test and test
Lot's of growing
They still have to do
And we will all make it
Or at least I hope we do.
So at the computer each
Day I do sit
And reach out to touch others
If even for a bit
It helps me relax
And stay half way sane
By making a graphic
Or playing a game.
And within this box
Live a special group
Right here right now
I'll give you the scoop
Women with a Unique Soul
They are tried and true
And I'm proud to be one of them
How about you?

Challenge Prompt - The WHERE I'M FROM
I am from the mountains, from printers ink and Elvis.
I am from the house on the hill
overlooking a town ever growing.
I am from the evergreens blowing in the wind,
the cactus reaching for the sky.
I am from backyard BBQs and gunfights in the dust,
from Anderson and Armstrong and Masquaw, too.
I am from a hard working and family loving fold.
From "Never give up"
and
"You can do anything you set your mind to."
I'm from Copper country and the green Isle,
Chili Verde rich and thick and Goulash steaming and hot.
From my Grandfathers workshop where he taught me
more than I can remember about carpentry and life,
my Grandmother who's garden bloomed with the life
she put into the hard barren ground.
I am from black and white photo's
of a young woman I don't remember,
of school days and singing in the church choir,
of climbing in the mountains and cleaning my brothers catch,
of cooking dinner for eight and fishing
with my Grandparents at the lake,
of memories saved and memories lost and
memories yet to come.
