To Have 'n' to Hold
('Til Domestic Violence do us Part)

Once you held me in your arms
With adoration 'n' awe.
You captured me with your charms,
Promised love would be our law.

Now you hold me in your arms,
Bellowin' terror's guffaw.
Your touch becomes one that harms
As you're layin' down the law.

Once you held me in the rain,
Shelterin' me from the storm.
Our skies were blue, free o' pain,
Nuttin' but sunshine the norm.

Now you hold me in your reign,
Helpless as a lifeless form.
Love is a feelin' we feign,
With disdain the daily norm.

Once you held me fast asleep,
Engulfed in your warm embrace.
Into dreamland I would creep
To a pleasant nesting place.

Now you hold me fast asleep,
Leavin' me lone in null space.
No one hears my muted weep
For a final resting place.
