Do not cry
because it's over;
Use a smile
the tears to cover.
Why am I told I must not
Weep in sadness nor in pain?
Why am I told I'm to tout
A grimace my truth to feign?
Do not cry
because it's over;
Add a smile
the tears to cover.
From friends to lovers we dove
As tepid feelings grew warmer.
Time to cool sensations that rose
And to return to the former.
I'll not cry
because it's over;
I've a smile
my tears to cover.
My heart wants not to believe
What we've shared now comes to an end.
With heaviness I do breathe
As my feelings I must amend.
I'll not cry
because it's over;
I will smile
my tears a cover.
Shall I be able to lie
About the depths of love I feel?
Shall I ever be denied
The desire my truth to reveal?
I shall cry
because it's over;
But a smile
my tears shall cover.
