A memory o' years ago,
Another lonesome Memorial Day
Spent with friends I no longer know,
While you were hundreds o' miles away.

The memory o' the night time,
You rang our mutual friend on the phone
From the depths o' your hell to climb,
Reachin' out for a partner you'd once known.

Memories o' love and o' hate,
A holiday no longer one o' mirth
For death that night did desecrate,
Forever cloudin' the day o' thy birth.

My memory o' love that died,
Memorial Day no longer to observe
As I once did in times gone by,
Yet again lifetime had tossed me a curve.
