April Showers Bring May Flowers

A flower to attract a lover,
A floral scent meant to please,
A hammock designed to hold two,
A conversation flowing with ease.

Painting an old wooden porch swing,
Rain gently falling to the ground,
Seeds waiting to come to life in soil,
Spring is bursting forth all around.

Later we'll seek out the shade,
As the sun leaves us panting in the heat,
Soaked in our own sweat but smiling,
A glass of sweet iced tea can't be beat.

April showers will only visit a short while,
Just long enough to encourage blooms,
Soon enough summer will send Spring away,
And white roses will adorn each of my rooms.

For now I watch the cold rain falling,
Dreaming of umbrellas on the shore of a sea,
Feeling the warm, white sand beneath my feet,
Waiting patiently for May flowers meant for me.
