A Vision Sown

In my mind's eye lives a painting, a splendid floral display,
Viewed from an April window, amid the haze o' the rain-soaked day.

The blossoms are dancin', to the tune o' the rays o' the sun;
Alas, this can't be real, til the plantin' o' the seeds has begun.

I'll reach into my keepsake tin, clutch the envelope with care,
For within is glued the promise o' the sunflower artist's fare.

In May I'll impregnate the soil, with gentleness and with ease,
Then rest myself in the hammock, in the shade o' the maple trees.

Come summertime 'n' early fall, I'll have a cam'ra ready;
A critter visit I'm bound to attract, to shoot swift 'n' steady.

At autumn's end I'll moisten a white envelope o' my own,
Send the reborn to West Virginia, where originally sown.
