Hoped-For New Direction
I so understand that your world has been a hard one in which to live
But never underestimate how much to it you were granted to give.
As you move away from one place into a hoped-for new direction
Take the time to look to the years of your past with honest reflection.
Bound by the ropes of yesteryear you shall forever heavily tow
Lifelong memories that run with you no matter where you may go.
Hold fast to the days, the hours, the merest hint of happiness
Never letting go of the once known feeling of aliveness.
I so understand that your world is a hard one in which to live

As you move away from one place into a hoped-for new direction
Take the time to look to the years of your future with honest reflection.
Learn to see each day dawning as a promise of rebirth for your spirit
And I wager the warmth of the sun in your heart you’ll surely inherit.
Remember that in life there are no guarantees save maybe only one
With each new breath that you take your private war has just been won.
